55-Plus underestimates the importance of hearing in traffic

The dutch love to ride their bikes. Especially in the warmer seasons. A healthy habit, but not always safe. For the older age groups, over 55 years, hearing impairments can be a serious risk in traffic. One in three in this age group have impaired hearing, but this is often denied or acted upon late. On average, the time between first symptoms and having a hearing aid fitted is 6 to 7 years. This could lead to potentially unsafe situations in traffic, as research shows.
