Not only in Northern Europe, also in the United Kingdom, Specsavers aims at raising the professional knowledge of the entire industry. Our main annual event for that in the UK is the Professional Advancement Conference (PAC), which was held in Birmingham on 21 October 2018 and attracted more than 2,000 eye and hear care professionals.
With programmes aimed at optometrists, contact lens specialists, optical dispensers, trainees, and audiologists, there is something for everyone. The approach this year was truly multidisciplinary, as the programme brought together all target groups and both optical and audiology professionals examined clinical cases involving care for both hearing and sight loss.
A group of about sixty optical partners, optometrists, students, L&D, professional advancement and hearing professionals from Specsavers’ Northern European stores and offices travelled to Birmingham for the conference. One of them is Mo Ahmed, optometry trainer in the Netherlands. He shares his experience:
“Attending this large conference was an incredible experience. I’ve seen many eye and ENT doctors and professors who shared their insights, ideas and vision on the various themes. All workshops were about cases that we see in practice on a daily basis, which made the conference highly educational and useful. To see the latest instruments and products from the sponsors, was very interesting as well. And it was great to be among partners and colleagues from both the UK and all Northern European countries. I really enjoyed this professional congress and can’t wait until next year!”
