Five things you loved about the Green Club in 2019

With 2019 almost at its end, it’s time to have a look at what a year it was for the Green Club in Northern Europe. In many regards, this was our most successful year yet. A record-breaking number of CET modules has been completed this year – with Dutch optometrists leading the way. The CET modules we have on offer are created by clinicians from across the world.

The quiz you loved the most this year – by far – has been the optometry quiz. Almost 500 eye care professionals took on the challenge on measuring their level of optometry. Read all about the outcomes in this article. Haven’t completed it yet? You can still do so here!

Our optometry atlas has proven to be another feature you appreciated this year. It’s developed by Dr Juha Päällysaho, O.D. PhD, Professional Services Manager at Specsavers Finland, and will give you an overview of pathological conditions of the eye. An incredible and useful tool for all opticians and optometrists who see an array of customers every day.

In its early days, the Green Club was only an online platform. We have organised more live events in the past years, particularly in 2019, with twice as much attendees in 2019 compared to the year before! We’ve hosted successful events in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and the Netherlands. During these events, eye care professionals meet up, discuss and learn with support from specialists from the region.

If you have not visited one of the Green Club events, you might have seen us elsewhere. We’ve been present at conferences to showcase our clinical offer, like the NCLF or BCLA conference. Our main event was obviously the yearly Clinical Conference – you can read all about it in this article.

Four of our members embarked on a special journey this year! Sara Ali from Sweden, Trine Olsen from Denmark, Jähja Bapiiri from Finland and Jorn Seim from Norway were the lucky winners of the Green Club competition on last years’ Clinical Conference and won a trip to the BCLA. The Green Club arranged their trip to Manchester, including the conference, travel and accommodation. Relive their journey .

For 2020, we’re working hard on surprising you once again with great content, events and other features. It promises to be our most ambitious year to date! Many thanks for your support – we’re looking forward to continuing to deliver quality content in the years to come.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2020 – and hope to ‘see’ you again in the new year!
